Key stage 4
The course is divided into tasks which are designed to enable gifted and talented pupils to use higher level skills such as analysis and evaluation. In order to achieve the distinction criteria they have to show clear evidence of analysis and evaluation. A number of tasks are designed to develop these skills earlier in the course to enable them to complete these tasks independently.
The distinction criteria are written as separate tasks in the assignments.
Small group work is ongoing with the technical support staff to build specific skills amongst the more able pupils in areas such as web design.
Key stage 3
Tasks are written into assignments to address the skills of analysis and evaluation as in key stage 4. Pupils work in groups and these are set according to ability to allow some groups of pupils to develop a more complex solution to a problem and to develop a specific project further. The level 7 tasks are designed to challenge pupils into finding solutions to a problem using more advanced skills.
In previous years we have identified a group of pupils to go and work at QEGS Alford as part of an animation project. We are looking to do this again with G&T pupils.
