Identifying Gifted Students
A student will automatically appear on the gifted register if they score
an average of 110 or higher on the
Cognitive Ability Test
that all students take upon entrance to the college in year 7.
A student will also automatically
appear on the gifted register if or they have a score of 115 or higher
in one particular area of the
Cognitive Ability Test.
As well as the CAT, classroom teachers and subject leaders are consulted
and a range of processes and procedures of identification are used and
include:
·
Observation of students’ responses to their work.
·
Interim reports and assessment levels against progress.
·
Observations to identify those students who demonstrate good social or
leadership skills.
·
Discussion with pupils, parents, carers and peers.
