U13’s Strike Victory at DRET Hockey Cup

The U13s Hockey squad at King Edward VI Academy are celebrating after claiming victory at the DRET Hockey Cup.

The event, held at Beeston Hockey Club, saw the team play six tense matches against other academies from the David Ross Education Trust.

Great Britain Hockey Star, Jennie Bimson, was also on hand to give the girls lots of advice and tips throughout the day.

Felicity Beall the KEVI Captain said “The Hockey Cup was a great day, made even better as we won! The tips we learnt from Jennie really helped us in the games and was really good to talk to a professional about the sport”.

The girls were unbeatable in the afternoon winning all three of their matches to bring home the trophy.

Chris Everton, Sports Enrichment Officer, said “This was a fantastic event held by the Trust. The hockey on display evidently improved as the day went on. I am delighted for the girls and they are already looking forward to defending their crown next year”.

This was just one of the many sporting events the David Ross Education Trust host each year. The academy will also be competing in the Cross Country Cup next week and the Summer Cup on the 1st July.
