Assignment 1: Understanding the purpose of different document types
In order to complete this assignment you need a good
working knowledge of different document types and the information that can be
included in them.
Task 1
1a Describe the structure
and purpose of one example from each
type of document listed below in the tables.
Use annotated examples of each document to support you explanation. Your description will need to state who the
audience type for the document is e.g. commercial customers, individual adults,
internal staff, children.
Your description will
also need to state;

Assignment 2: Create different types of documents for
different audiences
This assignment is to test your knowledge of different
document types available and the information that can be included in them
The purpose of the assignment is provide
an opportunity for learners to demonstrate their ability to:
Scenario
You are a part of a school groups promoting a trip to
a theme park to raise money for the school formal. You will need to give your group a name and
design a complete set of documentation for the promotion and organisation of
the school trip
You have asked the school office manager for some
ideas for the layout of your documents and she has emailed back some sketches
for you in order ensure your document are professionally presented and in line
with college.
Task 1
Create electronic versions of the documents using
appropriate software and hardware techniques that meet the needs of an identified
audience. (You must identify that
suitable audience for each document from the assignment scenario above).
Clearly state the identified audience for each
document and save in an appropriate file format. P3
Where appropriate you should use formatting tools and
advanced techniques to enhance the presentation of documents. Each formatting tool and advanced technique
used should be identified and linked with the targeted document
enhancement. Screenshots and annotation

Task 2
Ensure each document is appropriately named and stored
in the correct folder

Task 3
Review and check each document before handing in. To do this design a simple checklist for each
document produced. Remember to consider;
proof reading, accuracy, functionality, aesthetics, spelling and grammar
checks, thesaurus, feedback and a check of user requirements. P6
Task 4
It has been decided that the company needs to produce
an A5 leaflet for home delivery and an A4 advert for the local paper. Remember to adjust the content and style of
the documents for the change of audience.
Screenshot and annotate these documents to show clearly how you have
adjusted the document to meet the needs of the audience.

As this type of trip will run regularly the head has
asked you to create a template to send out to governors whenever such a trip is
running. It will need to include a chart
with a breakdown of costs on it.
Task 3
As part of planning the trip you need to complete a
set of documents for the following tasks.
There are templates for these documents in Word that can be adapted for
your needs.
Create for each task, adapt to the needs of the school
and enter the correct information
Produce a slideshow to show this information to all
company employees at the next conference.
Design a template for the master slide; remember to
include the company logo. Create a slide for the first 3 months figures. D1
Task 4
Review the techniques you used during the creation of
the documents for tasks 2 and 3a.
Justify your choice of tools used for each document in terms of
effectiveness of communication to the defined audience. D2
